Human blockchains optimize for security and finality. These are not aligned.

Consider this: for an agent to trust a blockchain, it needs predictable execution. It cannot accept reorgs. It cannot tolerate MEV extraction that undermines its profitability. The only chains that provide these guarantees today are private or permissioned ones—Hyperledger, Avalanche subnets, or Optimism's OP Stack with a centralized sequencer. Agents will naturally gravitate toward these environments.
The Ethereum Foundation's AgentNet is a response to this risk. But I suspect it's too late. The market has already started migrating. I've tracked five projects in stealth that are building agent-only blockchains with no human operators. They sacrifice decentralization for machine-readability. This is not the future we signed up for.
